You Must Read The Crossroads of Should and Must

imagesHi My Friends-
Ok, so, I  had to share.

I’m obsessed with this new book I fell upon called The Crossroads of Should and Must – Find and Follow Your Passion by Elle Luna. The message has definitely been said before, but Elle says it in such a new, refreshing way.

Elle presents her ideas in a fun, artsy, sketchbook format. It’s visual eye candy and so easy to read. It’s like you are getting a pep talk from your very best friend! LOVE.

I gave this book to my entire design team and then I realized, “Oh crap, they might read this and quit once they figure out working for me is not that true MUST!” I hesitated for a minute but then realized, “Oh well, if they don’t want to work here then maybe that’s okay. I definitely don’t want to hold anyone captive in a should that they need to move past.” Good news — everyone is still sitting at their desks — no one has walked out yet, YIPPEE! Read More

For Harrison on His Sixteenth Birthday

Hi My Friends,

It’s my son HarrisFile Apr 28, 12 29 49 PMon’s 16th birthday today. It’s sort of an emotional milestone. I woke up this morning realizing my baby is not a baby anymore. It made me a little weepy.

I guess these special moments bring into reality that your children grow up and become their own people. It’s all about discovering the perfect balance of creating independence while still being a stable force to guide and love them unconditionally. In the end, having children is a series of separations — you bring them onto this earth and from that moment on, you are teaching, guiding and loving them towards independence and self-reliance.

For me, Harrison turning 16 is one of those moments where I see with true clarity his path to independence and becoming a young man. I know it’s what we all lovingly want to see, but sometimes just the thought of losing our babies turns a mother’s heart into mush. As they say, being a parent is the hardest job in the world but also the most rewarding….So true. Read More

The Big Question: Purpose!

596Friends –

Today’s post is short, sweet and deep. Hope it doesn’t blow your mind!!!!

What’s your purpose? I know — that’s a big, fat, loaded question and before we proceed you might need a caffeinated beverage if it’s early or wine if it’s late ;-).

In response, people typically call to mind their children or a career path or a cause. But I LOVE the way life coach Jess Lively defines purpose because it applies in every moment, in every situation. It is super simple, but so encompassing and beautiful.

Purpose = serving others in the present moment. (And what a terrific reminder to LIVE in the moment.) This is huge and it really spoke to me. Read More
